Cheaper iPhone Could Actually Launch as iPhone XR

Apple is gearing up for this year’s iPhone launch, and one question that is yet to be answered concerns the name of the more affordable version.

While the two other models could be called iPhone XS and iPhone XS Plus or Max, recent reports have indicated that the 6.1-inch LCD sibling may hit the shelves as iPhone XC.

Without a doubt, this is a name that makes sense, especially after the iPhone 5C that used a similar naming scheme.

But according to reputable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this particular iPhone versions may end up being called iPhone XR. In a note released today, Kuo says there’s a chance that this model would be hit by a small delay caused by quality issues of assembly and display.

Earlier this year, it was speculated that this iPhone would launch later than the other two versions due to Apple planning to give exclusive time on the market to premium configurations.

Two-week delay
